Moving on from x86 - Nexus 7

First of all, I would like to apologize for my recent lack of contirbution, This is, unfortunately, because I came to an end with using and configuring Android for x86.
When Google released their Nexus 7, this became the ideal platform for me to use in my car, and to replace my Samsung netbook with an installation of Android x86.

I have been running my Nexus 7 as my ICE, mounted in my dash for just over a year now, and it has really improved the performance of my ICE. I would strongly recommend to anyone, to buy a Nexus 7, and find a way to mount in your vehicle, whether you can do this into your dash, or by using a Holder.

You can now buy USB OTG and Power Splitters, that enable the Nexus to be charged and to also provide OTG support for External USB Devices. This is possible through a Custom ROM designed for using the Nexus 7 in a vehicle environment.

If you are looking to go down this route, I strongly recommend checking out this site for more information and installation instructions for the Custom ROM. Using this ROM, enables the device to enter a deep sleep when switching from Charging to Battery (Charging via Ignition). This consumes an incredibly low amount of power and the battery lasts for weeks in this state. When the device receives charge again, the system wakes up and continues flawlessly.

The only issue I struggle with, is that recently in my vehicle, when my Nexus is charging, I receive a very nasty hiss/crackle/beeping through my sound system which gets worse, the more I use my device, the more it hisses and crackles, but it doesn't increase with the volume, so music will drown it out. I have tried Ground Loop Isolators, Power Supply Regulators, moving Audio cables well away from Power Cables. I even tried an app to download that supposedly cancels out Aux noise..... - Yeah I was skeptical, but willing to try, and was proved right ... it didn't work. Beginning to think it may be my Nexus and may need replacing. :/

If anyone has any further suggestions, please comment and let me know.

Happy Droiding
